IMA opposes NMC norms on prescriptions, bar on meets

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged the Union health minister to withdraw regulations requiring doctors to prescribe generic drugs until the quality of all medicines can be assured. The IMA also expressed concerns about regulations prohibiting doctors from attending conferences sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. The association called for exemptions for associations and organizations from the regulations.
