Breaking marriage promise after parental opposition not rape: HC

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court observed that a man reneging on his promise to marry a woman due to parental opposition to their relationship does not amount to the offense of rape. Consequently, the court acquitted a 31-year-old man who had been accused of raping a woman under the guise of marriage.
